A Ribera del Duero Must Have
After only a few months in Singapore, Bodegas Zifar has spread its wings. These wines are absolutely stunning and are gracing menus at Michelin star restaurants, private clubs and upscale restaurants alike. The purity of fruit and elegant, structured power of these wines has really been able to highlight just how absurdly good these are. If you haven’t tried them, grab them. They are among the best of Ribera and will only continue to rocket in prestige and respect.
Since its inception in 2005, Zifar has embraced the vision of developing a high-quality wine concept in the heart of the Ribera del Duero. Their pristine viticulture relies on the vines planted in their distinct soils and in their vineyards that are over 100 years old. Jean Marc Sauboua, their wine advisor with international experience and recognition, together with Bequer Prieto, deliver the best structure, quality, and unique personality of each wine every year.
The vineyards are located in the special and valuable Pesquera del Duero and Quintanilla de Arriba where they grow Tempranillo and Albillo Mayor (coming next shipment) with great acidity that brings forward the purity of the fruit in the wines.
This single-vineyard Tempranillo from the oldest vines on the estate is a rockstar. Red fruit stands out, with currants, strawberries and licorice. The wood is almost a companion that leaves a finish of cinnamon, and hints of white pepper. Fresh, with the identity of the terroir, and the altitude of the vineyard that it comes from, agile, with fine touches of spices, elegant, deep. Drink now or hold for 10-15 years with ease. 12 months French Oak.
