Pezzonovante is slang from The Godfather, translating directly to “90-caliber” but used more like “bigshot”. Vino Volta’s ”bigshot” grenache is big in its depth, complexity, and magnitude, while still maintaining elegance, brightness, and transparency. This is modern grenache at its finest, with red fruits on the nose intermixing with dried herbs, savoury earth, saline brightness, and a huge depth of flavour.
This is a bright, exuberant, modern expression of grenache. Wild strawberries, raspberry, sour cherry, and lilly pilly (a punchy native pink berry) define the fruit profile, with cherry blossom, sarsaparilla, and dried anise myrtle. Juicy upfront, with a whack of grippy tannins on the back end to maintain shape and freshness.
A blend of 49% Tempranillo, 25% Touriga, 18% Grenache and 7% Shiraz sourced across Margaret River, Geographe, Swan Valley and Frankland River. Aged in old barriques for 14 months. Totally opaque dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Aromas of dark cherries and red liquorice have a leathery overlay with some red raspberry, earth and spice notes also present. Mid weighted red to dark cherry and raspberry fruits meld into a leathery back drop of earth and spice.
Passion fruit and lemon / lime pith at its core, waxy and mealy characters with a little preserved lemon. A bit of funk, a bit more texture, focused citrussy acid pulls it through.
Inspired by the skin contact whites of northeast Italy. This wine is super aromatic with Turkish Delight, citurs and tropical fruits, bright, lively, then with savoury and textural with a complex finish. A great summer orange wine that is not like many wines you have tried.
This lightly sparkling pet-nat has an aromatic nose of white grapefruit pith, lemon sherbet, desert lime (a sweet-skinned native citrus), and white lilies. On the palate, the tart fruit and florals continue with a clean, linear, zesty line. A white rock minerality shines through too—a fun but complex, easy-drinking sparkler.
The wine is bright, with pungent finger lime citrus, granny smith apple, dried lemon myrtle and more subtle tropical character. It has some plumpness in the middle palate with good acidity on the finish. This wine is delicious now and cellar worthy. In time it will develop honeyed, toasty and nutty characters while retaining its citrus core.
